The Zulu Tapestry Collection refines elements of Sibu's Zulu Rust Collection (see NEWS:15/11/23) emphasising the textural qualities of Erna Janine's hand-woven Japanese textiles. Capsule and runway editions were showcased on 23rd & 18th September: see NEWS Event. The fabrics use organic cotton and metallic yarns with Japanese indigo while employing Katazome & discharge dyeing techniques to complement the denim patchworks. This is being developed into the forthcoming Hotaru (firefly in Japanese) branded retail range. We have collaborated again with the Japanese handloom technique specialist Janine @ Freeweaver: freeweaver.co.uk/about-us & instagram.com/freeweaver_studio & instagram.com/cloth_maker/?hl=en & wharf-life.com/tag/erna-janine & with thanks to Nadia for the 'cowboy' twist! @ TLZ Movement instagram.com/tlzmovementclothes.
In late October and November, we'll take select pieces on tour to Singapore & Bali; watch this space!
