Jaded Life's Designs: from Sofiatown to Cape Town

Sibu spends time getting back to his roots in the Mother City periodically to develop current ranges and create new lines; monitoring quality control to ensure only the best is Made in Cape Town...

Jaded Life's current range is inspired by Sofiatown, the vibrant Johannesburg suburb which in the 1940/50s came to prominence in music, writing, politics and art: noted for its exuberant street style; an influential cultural township hub of jazz and blues famed for the distinctive pennywhistle kwela music and jive of its '50s heyday. The present AW14 Sofiatown Collection represents this freedom of expression and rhythm in a contemporary context, a fusion of premium fabrics with Thai silk and nappa leather finishes lending a note of indulgence; the luxurious linings offer a mystical infusion of bold African design rendered in Asian materials. The silk is sourced from Nelson Mandela's sole mandated shirt manufacturing company, drawing on many of the exclusive designs. Sharp!
